About the AGA 2025

The biggest LGBTQ+ Sport Federation event of the year

The 2025 Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) will be held in the vibrant city of Valencia, Spain. This event will bring together representatives from across Europe to discuss, plan, and advance key topics related to inclusive sports and LGBTIQ+ visibility on Europe.

The 2025 AGA in Valencia will be an opportunity to strengthen alliances, share experiences, and define next steps in promoting equality and inclusion in sports. The event will also include complementary programming, such as workshops, social events, and cultural activities, allowing participants to experience all that Valencia has to offer.

BEST PRACTICES WORKSHOPS: BUILDING INCLUSIVE SPORTS TOGETHER

Workshop 1 “Strategies for LGBTIQ+ Inclusion and Safe Spaces in Sports”

This workshop will provide an opportunity to share strategies and resources to improve safety and well-being for LGBTIQ+ people in both LGBTIQ+ and mainstream sports clubs.

Workshop 2 “Gender Equality and Diversity policies in LGBTIQ+ sport clubs”

This workshop will explore inclusive and intersectional gender policies in sports, along with strategies for implementing them at various levels.
  • Speakers: Representatives of the Erasmus+ project LBTI women in Sport – Research & Outcomes (WSRO).
  • Format: Parallel session.

Workshop 3 “Combating Homophobia and Transphobia in European grassroots sport through GAME (Governance, Advocacy, Membership and Events) improvement"

This workshop will provide tools, resources and strategies to ensure EGLSF sports clubs are inclusive and accessible to all participants.
  • Speakers: Representatives of the Erasmus+ project Promoting inclusion and combating discrimination in European grassroots sport (PLUSS).
  • Format: Parallel session.
  • The first 15 minutes will be a general introduction in plenary; then 2 different rooms divided by topic.
        • ⁠Governance and events: QSS, Team Munchen, Atlasz
        • Advocacy and membership: OFTW, OIS, Pan Idraet.

About Samarucs

Samarucs is a sports association in Valencia that promotes inclusion through sports. Founded in 2004, the club offers various sporting activities for the LGBT+ community and its allies, fostering an environment of respect and diversity. The sports they organize include volleyball, beach voleyball, dance, yoga, rugby, taekwondo, quadball, theater, rowing, swimming, running, and football.

Samarucs also participates in national and international LGBTIQ+ competitions and organizes social events to connect people who share the same sports interests and inclusive values. It is one of many initiatives in Valencia that promotes coexistence and respect for diversity through sports.

How to arrive

Our main locations will be Petxina and Novotel Lavant. Both locations are very close to each other and perfectly connected by public transport.

TOURIST CARD:

The València Tourist Card offers UNLIMITED FREE transportation on EMT (Urban red bus) and in zones AB for Interurban Bus (MetroBus yellow buses), Commuter TRAIN (Renfe), Metro, and tram. Includes trips to/from the airport by metro (L3 and 5) and MetroBus (line 150).

From the Airport to the Hotel

There are several options to get to the hotel from the airport:

  1. Metro (30 min):
    Access the metro station located in the arrivals terminal. Take line 3 (red) towards Rafelbunyol or line 5 (blue) towards Marítim. After 10 stops, get off at Ángel Guimerà and, without leaving the station, transfer to line 1 (yellow) towards Bétera. Get off at Turia station. The hotel is located inside the Nuevo Centro shopping complex. Please check schedules and any possible travel restrictions on Google Maps or the Metro Valencia website: http://metrovalencia.es.
  2. Taxi (20 min):
    There is a taxi rank in the arrivals terminal. The fare is approximately 18–22€. (We recommend confirming in advance if you plan to pay by card.) Please use only official taxis, which are white with a «TAXI» sign on the roof. Locate the taxi yourself and avoid individuals approaching you directly to offer taxi services.
From the Hotel to the Petxina Center

By foot:
The hotel and the meeting center are a 10-minute walk apart.

Outreach Program

The AGA 2025 in Valencia will offer an outreach program to enhance accessibility. The program will primarily provide hosted housing and partial coverage for food and travel costs.

Conditions of Outreach:

  • The EGLSF Board would like to help you feel included in this AGA and so ask for your active participation. There are many on-the-spot tasks that we may call on your help for and we hope that you will be willing to volunteer.
  • Outreach may not cover all your costs. You may be awarded help with travel, or accommodation, or meals or a combination of these.
  • If you are awarded Outreach, you are expected to attend all AGA sessions.

If you are interested in applying for Outreach, please indicate this on the registration form.

Do not forget to apply for Outreach Program before the 15th of December, 2024
